19,302 PointsTrouble with printing out multidimensional arrays to html using echo in coding challenge
I created a multidimensional array correctly according to the code challenge. However, when printing it out below I use the array[#][STRING] format to print out the names and email addresses. When I finish, it gives me an error message. What is wrong with my code?
<?php
//edit this array
$contacts = array();
$contacts[] = array(
'name' => 'Alena Holligan',
'email' => 'alena.holligan@teamtreehouse.com');
$contacts[] = array(
'name' => 'Dave McFarland',
'email' => 'dave.mcfarland@teamtreehouse.com');
$contacts[] = array(
'name' => 'Treasure Porth',
'email' => 'treasure.porth@teamtreehouse.com');
$contacts[] = array(
'name' => 'Andrew Chalkley',
'email' => 'andrew.chalkley@teamtreehouse.com');
echo "<ul>\n";
//$contacts[0] will return 'Alena Holligan' in our simple array of names.
echo "<li>$contacts[0]['name'] : $contacts[0]['email']</li>\n";
echo "<li>$contacts[1]['name'] : $contacts[1]['email']</li>\n";
echo "<li>$contacts[2]['name'] : $contacts[2]['email']</li>\n";
echo "<li>$contacts[3]['name'] : $contacts[3]['email']</li>\n";
echo "</ul>\n";
?>

20,927 PointsHi David! I think your issue is in the way you have your array set up. I did mine like this:
$contacts = array(['name' => 'Alena Holligan',
'email' => 'alena.holligan@teamtreehouse.com' ],
['name' => 'Dave McFarland',
'email' => 'dave.mcfarland@teamtreehouse.com'],
['name' => 'Treasure Porth',
'email' => 'treasure.porth@teamtreehouse.com'],
['name' => 'Andrew Chalkley',
'email' => 'andrew.chalkley@teamtreehouse.com']);
The rest of my code looks like yours. I hope this helps!
