trial.py task 3

i dont understand why is says task one no longer works. and i dont fully understand what the float() function does. pls help

trial.py 
def add(num1, num2):
    return float(num1) + float(num2)
except ValueError:
    return None
else:
    return float(num1) + float(num2)

Hey Tyler,

first off float converts an integer say 1 or 2 to 1.0 or 2.0 Example:

number = 4 float(number) 4.0

For your problem add a try before your return and get rid of the else. Example:

def add(num1, num2):
    try:
        return #your logic goes here
    except ValueError:
        return #your logic goes here

Also like to add, that float() can convert a string number value say '5' i.e. float('5') returns 5.0
