I don't understand why this is not processing and saying Bummer Try Again???

Nice job thinking this through! You code is really correct, but since Python is really picky about indentation (spacing), Python will spit out an error at you because you didn't add four spaces to every single line except the def add(first, second):
line. If you add the spaces, it will make the code below the first line "inside" the definition.
def add(first, second):
try:
total = float(first) + float(second)
except ValueError:
return None
else:
return total
