Java Local Development Environments Advanced Tooling Finishing TreeStory

TreeStory Finish NoSuchElementException

I compiled and ran all of my code in IntelliJ with no issues. Everything is working properly as far as the pseudo-test is saying yet I get an exception when I try to submit the code.

# This is essentially what I am testing
1. The user is prompted for a new string template (the one with the double underscores in it).

  a. The prompter class has a new method that prompts for the story template, and that method is called.

2. The user is then prompted for each word that has been double underscored.

   a. The answer is checked to see if it is contained in the censored words.
      User is continually prompted until they enter a valid word

3. The user is presented with the completed story

Here is one of the answers e.g.

https://teamtreehouse.com/community/finishing-treestory-challenge-not-working

Coming to your code, the problem is that you have to actually prompt for story and NOT defining story as String as you did....

Take a look how the Main class should look like:

public class Main {

    public static void main(String[] args) {

         Prompter pr = new Prompter();

        //prompt for
        // String story = "Make me a __placeholder1__ and I'll __placeholder2__ it __placeholder3__ __placeholder4__.";
        String story = pr.promptForStory();

        Template tmpl = new Template(story);

        pr.run(tmpl);

    }
}

You also CANNOT use Scanner, sorry. For this Challenge you have to stick to BufferedReader.

So in order to solve the problems you have to

  • rewrite promptForWord using BufferedReader
  • change Main by prompting user for story
  • add new method in Prompter that simply prompts user for story using BufferedReader ( I called it promptForStory in Main)

Do you see now how to solve the problem ... ?

Yep, I appreciate the feedback. I was able to get it submitted.
