Treehouse Workspace? Why does it always delete text in front of the curser when I type?

It is soooo annoying to move a line of code to the bottom just so I can add 1 character on the line above it and then delete all the space to move it back. Is there anyway to turn this off. If not, is there any other way for me to test my PHP code without access to a server?
