Treehouse Students working on real projects

Are Treehouse students able to contact each other and get a team together to work on real projects. Do people do that on treehouse?

I often read about how a career in coding allows you to work remotely and that it is in high demand. Which is great! So it seems natural that on a site like this, people would contact each other to tackle a project. At least we can look at people's profiles and know what they have learned, or we can reference a certain course and say, u do this, I'll do that. It be really cool to see something like that happen on here

I would be interested in joining a project or an in-person Treehouse meetup.

I can't imagine there NOT being a way of doing this. I haven't personally seen anyone doing it, but I'm absolutely sure that if you had a project you had in mind, that you'd be able to get in contact here at Treehouse is gather people to help! (Unless there is something in some rules somewhere about it that is moused away in some lil corner of the website?)

I would certainly be interested in joining a project if people we looking

I have seen a lot of posts like this. I wish I could here a Treehouse Developers opinion. I have been hoping for social network features like groups and chats since I joined.

I would too, interested in joining a project with people from treehouse.

That would be amazing! People here are so helpful and friendly. It would be a great way for beginners like me to start doing real-world projects without feeling so intimidated.

I agree; that would be fantastic! If you're suggesting an in-person meetup (I know the very nature of coding allows you to work remotely, but some beginners may learn better with the ability to actually sit down with another person and work through things--a facet Treehouse doesn't offer, and therefore probably a decent supplement, if you learn best that way!) You could probably try to schedule a meetup through Meetup.com, or even find a pre-existing novice coders group to join!

This definitely sounds like a great idea. If anyone has upcoming projects we could collaborate on, feel free to send me an e-mail.

I would certainly like to join in on this. Currently my skill set is in graphic design a some in UX but I do know a good bit of coding now and would love to help out.

Jonmarc, do you have a portfolio or example work?

Gary Jennings Hey Gary, yeah I'm still updating it but I have my behance portfolio that I can show you. www.behance.net/jonmarcdesigns
