6,136 PointsTrack/Service to Create Simple, Elegant Sites with CMS
Hi there. Here's what I'd like to do:
- Make cool, individualized websites for local business that either don't have a website or have a website from 1952.
- Offer the website to them for a cheap price, then give it to them and be done with it. This would mean that it would be easy for them to add new content to their site without paying someone to figure it out for them.
Is there a track that would be good for this. Is there a Content Management System (CMS) that would work well for this? Squarespace seems good, but the advanced features are a little advanced for me and Wordpress seems to be too clunky to recommend to people with little to no tech experience.
Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!

Treehouse Moderator 91,253 PointsOn Treehouse there's only WordPress that is covered extensively. However you don't neccessarily need to be able to know code to offer Wordpress services to your clients. Clearly it helps as knowing the code will help you to offer a more streamlined service, but WordPress offers a vast array of custom pre made themes so there is bound to be choices out there that your clients will like. Most themes offer some good customisation too.
If you want to learn and how to use WordPress in a way that isn't code heavy, try the Learn WordPress track here on Treehouse. :-)

6,136 PointsI've used Wordpress briefly, and I definitely thought that it would seem unapproachable to a customer. Do you feel the same way, or do you think that it's manageable enough for the customer to handle on their own?

Treehouse Moderator 91,253 PointsAgain it depends on their requirements.
I was working with a customer today and he thought the interface was very intuitive. If you want to add a page for example it's easy enough to do that from, the pages link in the dashboard.
For everything else though there's always you to advise them. :-)
