.toLowerCase conversion in the prompt variable

I added .toLowerCase() in the prompt variable instead, and it seemed to work perfectly. Is that option also possible or would at some point the code be wrong?

const search = prompt('Search for a product.').toLowerCase();

Thank you. Kristine

Sometimes you might want to preserve the original response to use in feedback to the user. But when all you need is a case-converted term then it doesn't matter when you perform the conversion, and doing it this way makes the code a bit more compact.
