4,148 PointsTold to put the "Try" loop around the kart.drive method, despite it encapsulating it. Anything I am doing wrong?
Hey folks. Stuck on this challenge and I am at a loss for what I did wrong. Any idea?
class Example {
public static void main(String[] args) {
GoKart kart = new GoKart("purple");
if (kart.isBatteryEmpty()) {
System.out.printf("The battery is empty");
}
try{
kart.drive(90);}
catch (IllegalArgumentException iae) {
System.out.printf("Error! %s", iae.getMessage());
}
}
}
class GoKart {
public static final int MAX_BARS = 8;
private int barCount;
private String color;
private int lapsDriven;
public GoKart(String color) {
this.color = color;
}
public String getColor() {
return color;
}
public void charge() {
barCount = MAX_BARS;
}
public boolean isBatteryEmpty() {
return barCount == 0;
}
public boolean isFullyCharged() {
return MAX_BARS == barCount;
}
public void drive() {
drive(1);
}
public void drive(int laps) {
if (laps > barCount) {
throw new IllegalArgumentException("Not enough battery remains");
}
lapsDriven += laps;
barCount -= laps;
}
}

28,558 PointsThe problem is that you have changed the value that is passed to the drive method. Originally the method call looks like this:
kart.drive(42);
You have changed 42
to 90
which confuses the code checker, changing any code you are not instructed to change is generally a bad idea in these challenges. If you change it back to 42
then your code will pass.

4,148 PointsYep that worked. Thank you Andren! I will try to stick to the formula for now on.
