Hi, Just went through the challenge and it took me a few go's to get it right. I think its a bit misleading as there is more than one word that could fit and still have the right meaning, yet there is only one real answer. Would be nice if this question could be reworded or maybe changed to a multiple choice one to help avoid confusion.

You were right about charge, but the word you're looking for is 'expectations' - check out the video transcript at 5:01.

Hope this helps!

Thank you for your reply. I just removed all his courses and am going elsewhere for the wordpress. Questions are to miss leading and confusing trying to figure out the type of answer he wants. This caused me to much frustration. Not sure why I did not delete this post if it takes more than an hour for a response that is to long for Treehouse to respond. If you send it to support they reply that is a great question for the forum.

Thank you very much James Anwyl.

No problem, glad I could help :)

I've been there and I totally understand your frustrations. But the thing is, when you ask a question in the forum and someone answers it, it doesn't just help you it also helps anyone else who may have the same issue and looks to the forum for help (not even just treehouse members as the forum is publicly accessible). If the support team answered your question via email, nobody else could see it and it also leaves them less time to work on technical issues.

Also, Treehouse is far from perfect and the teachers make mistakes and overlook things, they are human after all. If you have feedback on the courses you can always contact the teacher directly - zac[at]teamtreehouse.com. Ryan (the owner) says it himself in his newsletters "If you'd like to chat just hit reply to this email" - How many other companies do you know where the CEO is encouraging customers to send him emails?!

The goal of Treehouse isn't to make money from selling tutorials, it is to educate and build a community. They are trying to make a complex topic like web development easy and fun to learn for everyone, and they rely on feedback from students like you and me to help make this goal a reality.

Just my 2 cents :)

I think Teamtreehouse is very good overall. True regarding the forum except they need to have someone look over the forum to help with the questions. I have placed several in the forum trying to learn with no response for several days. That is to long. They should reply sooner. Myself I am a little older and not earning enough income. Everywhere I have applied for work has been turned down. I am in a bit of a hurry to learn so I can build web sites to earn some cash. Been studying for some time now and the more I learn seem like I need to learn more Have no friends or anyone to help. If I could afford to go to a JC than I might be able to meet people who are also learning to talk to about the subject. As it is I am one on my own and learning on my own through the internet. 25.00 per month does not sound like much but when you are living on 1,165.00 per month that is a lot to spend.

So I do get to impatient waiting on an answer in the forum.

Since my cash is limited next month need to go elsewhere and pay the fee there so I can continue learning.

Again Thank you very much for your reply. It is greatly appreciated.

Don

Can totally empathise with you, I just started a temporary job last month (nothing to do with web design) but prior to that was unemployed and struggling.

I agree that as soon as you learn one thing, 10 more things you need to know pop up. I started a job as a web developer a few years ago with no experience at all and no one to show me what to do or help me. I was in a rush trying to learn everything, spent at least 12 hours a day on it and ended up burning out after 18 months and going off sick. It pretty much killed any desire that I had to be a web developer and I stopped it all completely. It was only within the last year or so that I decided I'm going to try again and do things differently this time. So I'd strongly advise you to not do what I did, take it easy and don't be harsh on yourself. Set some realistic goals and work towards them.

Obviously, that doesn't help with the money situation in the short term though. It sucks getting your job application rejected or worst of all not hearing anything back at all! But maybe it would be a good idea to spend more time applying for jobs, doing voluntary work and improving your resume. Rather than focus all your efforts on learning to code and putting all your eggs in one basket so to speak.

You could always try posting your question in multiple places on sites like Stack Overflow, the wordpress forums. There's a lot of free sites with some awesome tutorials out there such as css-tricks. Also worth googling and looking at sites like http://webdesign.meetup.com/ to try and find like minded people or events in your area. Look for local web design firms and see if they'd mind you spending a day making coffee's and watching them work or doing some unpaid work to get experience.

If you'd like to work on a project with someone I'd be more than happy to work with you. It's something I've wanted to do for a while and think it would be a great learning experience for everyone involved. I'm sure there's plenty of people out there who feel the same way.

Anyways I'll stop ranting now, but just know you're not alone and there's lots of help out there should you need it.

Enjoyed chatting with you :)

Thank you James. I spend all day form morning till night on this. My goal is not to work for anyone but to build a site to bring in income. Just to start build some sites for small companies to get the income started than move on to bigger and better things. Have built a couple sites which are still a work in progress. ourangelabby.com, elmsquareapts.info and a make belief site donshipley.com

I am 56 years old. Use to do hard labor which my body will not take anymore. So placing in applications turned out to be a waste of time. If I work at my age will lose my retirement meaning will make less money than sitting at home. Can not work more than 50 hours per month. If I am to work on my own no one to keep track of the hours worked other than me.. :)

It is all going to fall into place just a matter of time.

Looks like you are in the UK a little far to get together LOL

Apologies for the late reply didn't notice you'd commented.

Ha, we can get together via the internet. Was thinking maybe team up for the weekly forum contest or something from pair up to code. Could use skype/email/IM/github etc.

Ill send you a message on twitter (the account in your profile), we can sort it out there if you want to give it a go.

Tomorrow is my last day on treehouse. Will still be studying wordpress, php and higher levels of css. Might come back to treehouse in a couple of months. Getting together would be fine Just would not be able to pair up for the weekly contest since my membership will expire midnight on the 5th,

I do not really use twitter keeping my membership for when I start launching sites may tweet them to see what type of response will receive. I do have skype but leave it off would need to know when to turn it on.

Something like skype would be good for the students on treehouse post a question in the forum and able to contact that person to discuss there problem. Messaging is sometimes not the best way to go for the person to understand. Do not know what the 50.00 per month fee includes on treehouse that might have something like that.

Say this for I tried to help a person in the forum the question they asked clicked on the video took me to a question that was different to the one they needed someone like me could have explained it over something like skype but replying on the forum was to difficult waiting for a reply on the forum.

Tracks are great on treehouse but think they could be done a little different. Example have one just on html one on css etc. Be able to have to tracks going at one time so you can spend a little time on this one than switch to the other.

Have them broken down by beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Be able to book certain videos so you may go back on the subject needed ie php loops.

Better stop otherwise this may go on for days lol

By looking at your profile looks like you are in the UK so a time difference is about 8 hours.

Thanks James
