What is a good method for displaying large images in a website,
What tools are needed for example a full width banner 960px x 780px I'm finding it very slow loading images

28,149 PointsOptimize them. Photoshop offers some help there in the File > Save for Web menu.
Picking between JPEG, PNG-8, PNG-24, or GIF where appropriate will help.
And finally, using a service like http://www.smushit.com/ysmush.it/ to help you "smush it".

Thanks for the tip I have been using Fireworks CS6 and I could not find this option but I have opened the image in photoshop and saved for web so hopefully it will work OK!!!
