1,889 PointsThoughts on Mega Menus vs Other Navigation Forms
Hello -
I work for a large company currently doing a total redesign of our website. One of the topics of discussion recently is what kind of navigation the site should use and what is considered a "best practice."
Are Mega Menus still considered the way to go? Or has the industry moved back toward more traditional left hand side navigation?
Thanks in advance!

2,762 PointsHey David
We are discussing something similar for our next big project. A few of the stakeholders like the mega navs, the one we reference is http://mashable.com/. This has many pros for our business use, but the weight and technical time (implementing on drupal) might outweigh the pros.
On the design/dev team we are favouring the fixed nav bar, this again has pros and cons http://www.awwwards.com/fixed-navigation-bars-pros-and-cons.html
The discussion continues! Keep me informed on the route you take :-)
cheers

1,889 PointsYeah I'll let you know what we end up doing. Right now the folks we hired to code are pushing hard for mega menus, while the folks who designed the site think left hand nav is the way to go.
Any other thoughts or ideas on which direction makes sense in certain circumstances?

2,762 PointsThere are many factors to take into consideration but i suppose the biggest factor is what do you want the user to do? What is your end goal?
Is it a commerce site or an editorial site? ....Will the mega nav confuse the user or tempt the user with links/images?
