I tried to change the file of hello.txt permission to my user name using sudo chown but it gave me an error saying "This incident will be reported". What did I do incorrectly...? Very confused

17,603 PointsSeems like you are not in the sudoers file. The message you received is the automatic message you receive when something like this fails. Which is not abnormal, I assume you tried this in a workspace, where access might be restricted for security purposes.
Don't worry, I don't think anyone actually looks at the reports. And even if, it's not that you will actually get in trouble for it (if you are worried about that :P)

10,106 PointsHaha I was a bit worried at first but then I realized, I'm sure I'm not the only dummy to create this error lol and thank you for the info I didn't get why but that makes sense!
