The last name is telling me "Try using getElementByTagName" but it is a class we are selecting (tag name does not work)

I have the following for the question

var lastName = document.getElementsByClassName('last_name')[1];

It is telling me it is incorrect and to use the tag name, the value we are getting in in a class, and even when I change it to getElementsByTagName is does not work either

app.js
var fullName = document.getElementById('full_name');
var lastName = document.getElementsByClassName('last_name')[1];
index.html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head></head>
<body>
<h1 id="full_name"><span class="first_name">Andrew</span> <span class="last_name">Chalkley</span></h1>

<script src="app.js"></script>
</body>
</html>

The task states the following:

Select the second SPAN element on the page and assign it to the variable lastName on line 2. Take a look in the index.html to see the structure of the document.

To do this, you simply grab all the span elements, and select the second one.

var lastName = document.getElementsByTagName('span')[1];
