Thank you Treehouse

I just wanted to take the time to acknowledge all the teachers at Treehouse for helping us all achieve our goals. Some people might do the same when they release their dream app or get their dream job, but for me, the littler goals count as well.

I want to add the caveat that I'm only in the infancy of my Android development journey but I'm really enjoying the Build a Simple Android App app course by Ben Deitch. Not only does the course allow you to go into Android basics while not taking the example app too far but he explains things bit by bit and the challenges and quizzes are a natural aid to your learning path.

I'm just about to finish the 4th stage and I was experiencing a problem. A runtime error causing the app to crash in the emulator and stop working. I was a little downcast at one stage, but then I started noticing a few things.

Line numbers, error messages, the term NullPointerException was starting to switch some things on in my brain and I started to solve problems. Not so long ago I wouldn;t have had a clue what an exception was; never mind how to solve them. I wouldn't have been able to make head or tail of a runtime error. I owe this knowledge to the like of Craig Dennis and Alena Holligan for the way they explained those concepts to us and how interchangeable they are in different languages.

So I may not have reached the end of the line yet and I have a long way to go but I think the teaching staff deserve credit for helping us achieve the "little" things too. It's all part of the journey :)

I too am thankful for all of the teachers I've had. A special shout out to Pasan Premaratne and Kenneth Love.

I have learned quite a bit in my first year here on Treehouse. But the most important thing I've learned about coding, I still learn every day. Every single day I learn how much I don't know. But the great thing about this place is that there is someone who does and they are often incredibly willing to help! :sparkles:
