I would recommend you use the developer tools in your browser, to inspect your elements when your having layout issues.

8,931 PointsI would need to see your html in order to say for sure, but most likely you need to add overflow:auto to your image.
When you float an element, you remove it from the normal flow of the document. Overflow:auto forces the browser to treat it as if it does belong in the flow.
