Courses Plus Student 15,510 PointsTechDegree vs. my annual credit?
Background Information (relevant)
So I picked up an annual subscription to teamtreehouse with a voucher I found online. It was listed as a pro annual subscription voucher (which is what I wanted) but when I joined and paid the year in advance it registered my account as a gold account (I'm not making this up I swear! It's actually called 'gold' not 'pro'). No clue what a gold account is but I'm feeling pretty bling saying that out loud right now! I seem to get all the pro features so I'm not overly concerned about the name being incorrect.
Actual query
I really like the quality of service offered and find myself wanting to at least try out the additional services offered in the tech degree program and see if that is right for me. So a few questions if I may.
- Should I signup another account on the 7 day free trial just to test it or is there a way I can test it with my current account?
- If I choose to make the switch to a tech degree program what happens to my annual gold subscription balance (whether it be money or time) ... does it suspend while I'm in the tech degree and resume after I complete that? or do I just forfeit whatever time passes while I'm on the tech degree? or do I get the balance as a credit applied to the tech degree?
- What happens on completion of the tech degree in regard to my account status? (I realise this answer is dependent on the answer to the previous question, but if I put it here then perhaps whoever answers 2. can also respond to this also.
Unrelated
I just discovered the Emoji Cheat Sheet
, I'm going to stop now before I emoji this post to death but I look forward to any information that could be offered to the queries above.
Thanks

Gold is what we use to call Pro (Basic was called Silver). The voucher you've acquired must be a bit dated as we haven't referred to our plans by those terms in several years.
- With that being said, you shouldn't have any issues with checking out the 7-day Free Trial of the Techdegree. If there are issues, just write me at help@teamtreehouse.com and I'll get everything straightened out.
- If you choose to pursue the Techdegree after your trial you will be billed at the normal rate of $199/month and the remaining time of your annual Pro (gold) will be changed into the form of a prorated credit which will then automatically be applied to your billing cycle(s). If you'd like to touch more on this, email us.
- Completion of a Techdegree keeps on you on the Techdegree until you manually change it to a different subscription or mark your account for pause or cancel.
I hope this information helps!

Courses Plus Student 15,510 PointsHi Rob Allessi,
I was wondering what that 'gold' sub level was about. Feel free to roll me to the new naming convention if you like, or just leave as is because I still seem to get all pro benefits.
Re: Tech Degree, I will look into it further ... still debating between front end and full stack. Once decided I'll take a week off work and give it a proper 'trial' run. If the 'extras' prove valuable then I'll lock that in (and thanks for the offer - any issues and I'll email you).
Thanks again for the info,
Dave.
