Treehouse TeacherTake the 15 Minute Challenge
We want to encourage everyone to spend 15 minutes a day for a month learning something new about coding. So challenge yourself, your friends, fellow students and Treehouse Teachers.
Goals of the Challenge
- Prove that ANYONE can find the time to learn to code, all it takes is a small daily commitment.†
- Demonstrate that even a small daily commitment to learning can have a huge impact on your proficiency
- Illustrate the benefits of spaced learning vs. crammed, which helps students avoid getting overwhelmed!
- Build a strong sense of community and support for our students on social
- Drive communication and interaction between Treehouse teachers (and the rest of the team) and our students on social media.
We’ll be posting fun, motivational and engaging posts throughout the month to encourage everyone along the way. We encourage you to post to social media each day what you’re learning. Include an update, share an accomplishment, and engage with your teachers and fellow students. Of course, we'll have weekly giveaways to reward participants, so share often!
In summary
The heart of campaign will be the #15MinChallenge hashtag used across Treehouse social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook and Instagram).
You’re committing to the following
- Make a public commitment on social media
- Spend 15 minutes a day learning
- Share your progress during the challenge on social media
- Engage with others taking part on social media
- Show off your final project or summarize what you've learned
Check out the 15 Minute Challenge Blog Post for more information and suggestions.
† I know it can feel almost impossible to find the time, but if I can do it (working full time with three little kids, coordinating the local PHP Users Group and speaking internationally), you can do it! It's just 15 minutes a day for 1 month. Joining me at the PHP UK Conference could be a great way to spend some of your learning time

Treehouse Moderator 91,253 PointsFor my sins, the 15 minute challenge has passed me by. Probably because I spend all day coding either on Treehouse or for my business. But I am spending a lot of time trying to learn and understand Android, so that's new to me. Unfortunately, running the emulator on its own would eat into that time. It might not be 15 minutes but it is a challenge! :)
