iOS Build a Simple iPhone App with Swift 2.0 Getting Started with iOS Development Swift Recap Part 1

Swift review challenge task 2. It keeps saying my code is wrong and that I should use string interpolation. HELP!

Below is my code and the question is to print out a description of firstPost. The error I keep getting is "Your implementation doesn't match, HINT: Use string interpolation. I have tried that repeatedly and it's still wrong. I think it has to do with how I called the "tag" in firstPost but I don't know how to fix it and i've checked the internet. Please help. Thanks

struct Tag { let name: String } struct Post { let title: String let author: String let tag: Tag

func description() -> String {
  return "\(title) by \(author). Filed under \(tag)."
}

} let firstPost = Post(title: "IOSDevelopment", author: "Apple", tag: Tag(name:"swift") let postDescription = firstPost.description()

structs.swift
struct Tag {
    let name: String
    }
struct Post {
    let title: String
    let author: String
    let tag: Tag

    func description() -> String {
      return "\(title) by \(author). Filed under \(tag)."
    }

}
let firstPost = Post(title: "IOSDevelopment", author: "Apple", tag: Tag(name:"swift")
let postDescription = firstPost.description()

1 Answer

Damion, you need a closing parenthesis, and a tag.name rather than a tag object:

struct Post {
    let title: String
    let author: String
    let tag: Tag

    func description() -> String {
      return "\(title) by \(author). Filed under \(tag.name)"
    }

}
let firstPost = Post(title: "IOSDevelopment", author: "Apple", tag: Tag(name:"swift"))
let postDescription = firstPost.description()

Also, the editor didn't what a final period in the description.

saved the day again jcorum. Thanks!
