iOS Swift Collections and Control Flow Dictionaries in Swift Working With Dictionaries

Swift Dictionaries

In the last line of code I'm trying to update the value of "CC" to "Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough", but it keeps coming back wrong. What am I missing?

dictionary.swift
// Enter your code below

var iceCream = ["CC": "Chocolate Chip", "AP": "Apple Pie", "PB": "Peanut Butter"]

iceCream.updateValue("Rocky Road", forKey: "RR")

let applePie = ["AP"]

iceCream.updateValue("Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough", forKey: "CC")

Hi there,

The issue isn't your last line - it is your third line.

To pull a value out of a dictionary, you need to present the key to the dictionary so change:

let applePie = ["AP"]

to:

let applePie = iceCream["AP"]

Otherwise, applePie will just contain an array with a single string in it.

I hope that helps.

Steve.

Thank you! I appreciate the help!

No problem! :+1: :+1:
