i do get the concept of this it seems common sense, but i'm still stuck with the correct code. can any one help please.

sundaes = available.split(';')

2,636 PointsYou're close. Note that anytime you have a string with a {}, you'll have to call format on it, then pass in the variable to be formatted.
>>> available = "banana split;hot fudge;cherry;malted;black and white"
>>> sundaes = available.split(";")
>>> menu = "Our available flavors are: {}."
>>> display_menu = menu.format(" ".join(sundaes))
>>> display_menu
'Our available flavors are: banana split hot fudge cherry malted black and white.'
>>> display_menu = menu.format(", ".join(sundaes))
>>> display_menu
'Our available flavors are: banana split, hot fudge, cherry, malted, black and white.'

You can also combine the steps if you can grok it
>>> menu.format(", ".join(available.split(";")))
'Our available flavors are: banana split, hot fudge, cherry, malted, black and white.'
