Courses Plus Student 7,016 PointsStuck on: "Challenge Task 1 of 4 - Let's start by floating main-logo and the main-nav list items left."
Hi Everyone,
I am stuck on "Challenge Task 1 of 4 - Let's start by floating main-logo and the main-nav list items left." and could do with some help please. For example, I have written in the commented section:
/*Float Styles
.main-logo .main-nav {
float: left;
}
But nothing happens? Am I supposed to group it or put it in a column similar to the video?
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks Gareth

You need to float the list items in .main-nav left:
.main-logo, .main-nav li{
float:left;
}

8,521 PointsWhen you want to asign the same value to more than one element, you have to divide it with a comma. So in your case, it would look like this.
.main-logo, .main-nav {
float: left;
}

Just wanted to let you know that I edited your comment because you referred to a comma as a colon.

Treehouse TeacherGareth;
Let's have a look.
Task 1
Let's start by floating main-logo
and the main-nav
list items left.
If we look in the HTML file we see that both main-logo
and main-nav
are classes so we need to select them with a preceding period, which it looks like you have. We want to select two different classes, and not necessarily tie them together in a parent/child relationship so we need to separate them with a comma, like: .main-logo, .main-nav
. We also need to specifically target the list items in the .main-nav
class, so we would do:
.main-logo, .main-nav li {
float: left;
}
Hope it helps and happy coding.
Ken
