confused about why my code is not running

banana.py 
available = "banana split;hot fudge;cherry;malted;black and white"
sundaes = available.split(';')
menu = "Our available flavors are: {} .".format(", ".join(display_menu))
display_menu = sundaes.join(", ")

Hello there,

You're pretty close here, and have the right idea - the main thing causing the issue is Python's .join method. In several other languages, you call join on the list, but in Python, it's done on the string separator. The challenge says you can do it separately or on the same line - so your options are:

available = "banana split;hot fudge;cherry;malted;black and white"
sundaes = available.split(';')
menu = "Our available flavors are: {}."
display_menu = ", ".join(sundaes)
menu = menu.format(display_menu)

Or (same line): 

available = "banana split;hot fudge;cherry;malted;black and white"
sundaes = available.split(';')
menu = "Our available flavors are: {}.".format(", ".join(sundaes))

In your code, you also use display_menu on the line before it is initialized - I believe you have to declare it further up the page than it is used.
