String firstExample = "hello"; String secondExample = "hello"; String thirdExample = "HELLO"; if(firstExample.equalsIgnoreCase(thirdExample)); { console.printf("first and third are the same ignoring case"); } please tell me why im getting an error

***Bummer: Make sure you are using equalsIgnoreCase on the firstExample variable and use console.printf

i also tried

if (firstExample.equalsIgnoreCase("HELLO")) { console.printf("first and third are the same ignoring case"); }

// I have imported a java.io.Console for you, it is named console.

String firstExample = "hello"; String secondExample = "hello"; String thirdExample = "HELLO";

boolean stringEquals = firstExample.equals(secondExample); boolean ignoreStringCaseEquals = firstExample.equalsIgnoreCase(thirdExample);

if(stringEquals) { console.printf("first is equal to second"); } if(ignoreStringCaseEquals) { console.printf("first and third are the same ignoring case"); }

*YOUR IF STATEMENT HAS A SEMICOLON AFTER IT

if(some boolean value is true); <--- remove { // will never run due to semi colon }

if(some boolean value is true) { // if true ... this code statement will execute }
