Java Java Basics Getting Started with Java Receiving Input

String cannot be converted to boolean?

Hello,

My script: import java.io.Console;

public class Introductions {

public static void main(String[] args) {
          Console console = System.console();

String myName = console.readline ("What is your Name?   ");
console.printf("Hello, my name is %s\n",myName);

} }

At the console: clear && javac Introductions.java && java Introductions

Error: Introductions.java:8: error: incompatible types: String cannot be converted to b oolean
String myName = console.readline ("What is your Name? ");
^
Note: Some messages have been simplified; recompile with -Xdiags:verbose to get full output

Careful with the camelCase. The method you're looking for is console.readLine not console.readline. :)

Hi Just van der Linde, You need to capitalize the 'L' in readLine, you need to delete the space after readLine, and 'C' in System.Console should be capitalized. So with those fixed, your code will look like:

public static void main(String[] args) {
          Console console = System.Console();

String myName = console.readLine("What is your Name?   ");
console.printf("Hello, my name is %s\n", myName);

Hope it helps!!

Oh thanks! I even re-typed it the wrong way :x
