I have difficulty understanding the syntax for the String array in the regex challenge. WHy do you have to type String [] getWords Doesn't it return an array of the words automatically? Will there by an compile error if i don't??

Java Web Development Techdegree Graduate 21,083 PointsIn Java you always have to specify the type that the method will return. Otherwise, yes, there will be a compiler error. Other languages like Javascript or Scala don't require it and can define variable type implicitly, but Java doesn't allow that and requires you to always define the type for all methods and variables.
