Sticky Footer

using css calc function seems bit too tricky for me. Is there easier version?

footer { width:100%; position:fixed; top:91%; }

is this a viable alternative?

I actually prefer using fixed positioning to "stick" something on the screen. Just be sure to provide an adequate bottom margin or padding to the scrollable element or the footer will obscure the last bit of the content.
