using split

banana.py 
available = "banana split;hot fudge;cherry;malted;black and white"
sundaes = available
sundaes.split(';')

you should save the list back to sundaes after a splitting sundaes = sundaes.split(';')

available = "banana split;hot fudge;cherry;malted;black and white"
sundaes = available.split(';')
