I often use smart quotes when writing emails, texts, Facebook posts, etc. using opt+[, opt+], opt+shift+[ and opt+shift+].
I'm wondering if the HTML character entities should be used even when the characters are easily typed. Is it a bad idea to just type “ and ” or are the HTML character entities there just so there's a way to type them for web designers/developers that rely on them?
