Slicing help (UI)

Hello all,

Firstly many thanks treehouse for the great work and content you offer.

Right where do i start, i have designed my own UI (first page) and i want to slice it up, but in the tutorial Sarah Parmenter mentions how to slice up icons. Do i need to slice up my buttons and all other layers? or will the developer not need all of the images? sorry my lack of understanding.

Take a look http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k458/mathewtooher/PortraitRetina_zps38b0b0fc.png

Update

I forgot to mention, when i slice all it save the whole image as one png not individual images. Gosh this has pickled my brain.

Hey Mathew,

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking here but let me see if I can help.

First, developers can easily create buttons by using CSS to design them in the code. They do not need to be created in Photoshop.

Second, the issue you are having with the whole image being saved as one png and not individual images is most likely because you are saving the files using "All Slices". This saves all your slices as well as everything else around the slices. You can fix this by selecting "All User Slices" from the "Slices:" drop down menu at the bottom of the save window.

Hope it helps & good luck!
