Simplify the code, but not work

Hi team, when I simplify the code like the following codes. I find it works when having field value, but not works when no field value. But there is no any error msg. May I know why I can not simplify the code like this? Why have to have fieldTest? Thanks!

function isFieldEmpty() {

const field = document.querySelector('#info');

if (field.value === "") {

alert("Please provide your info.");

}

The purpose of the isFieldEmpty() function used in the video is to return a true or a false value based on the current contents of the field.

The main problem here is that the function is not returning any value.
