Shouldn't this code work?

Question

Here is the code for the task :

  public String[] getWords() {
      return mBody.split("\s+"); 
  }

I think it should work as per the description. I can't debug it as it doesn't show why this does not compile. Why doesn't this work? Thank you.

it seems to accept:

  public String[] getWords() {
      return mBody.split("\\s+"); 
  }

the challenge states "(Remember to escape the backslash in your Java code.)".
