Should you put your business name in the footer on a client's web project after you finish developing it? Is it wise or is it unfair? What about other types of projects, like a branding manual, or an artistic poster?

23,177 PointsIt is always a good idea to put your name on a finished product. People generally don't like to spend time figuring out who is the person or company that designed this or that. So the easier you make it for them the more likely it is that people who don't know about you will find you.
However, some clients (especially the big corporations out there) might explicitly ask you to not put your name/company on the product. They have their own reasons for doing so. One might be they don't want their customers or users to see a name/company they are not accustomed to. Another reason might be that the client doesn't want their competition to know who's doing all of this amazing work for them. It might also simply be a strategy of the client in order to negotiate a lower price in return for putting your name on the product.
Having said all of this, whether or not putting you name on a product is a choice only you can make. Generally it's good practice. But there might be times you're not happy with the finished product. Or perhaps you don't want to be identified with this client later on (for whatever reason). That's when it's good idea to not put your name on it.
