Courses Plus Student 1,889 PointsSetting up Wordpress locally with new Mamp update - Mamp has changed and I can't point to my local folder.
In the tutorial to set up Wordpress locally, it uses Mamp for mac. You used to be able to point to the folder where your project was. but now theres a cloud button instead and no way to change where its pointing to.
I found online something about changing the ports, but there isn't enough detail to sort out the problem. Mamp is forcing everything onto the cloud and starting to charge for that. But I'm not ready to start paying, I'm still learning.
Does anyone have uptodate steps on how to set up wordpress locally please? The Treehouse course is now out of date. Thank you in advance of any help. Diane

Treehouse Project ReviewerHi Diane, great question. I remember feeling the same way when I opened up MAMP and noticed the dashboard didn't look them same as in the video because of the update to MAMP.
If you have MAMP open you can hit CMD + ,shortcut to open up the preferences or in the top left click on MAMP next to the apple logo and then select Preferences. Then click on Web Server tab then Select to point MAMP to your file.

I was at Wordcamp Bristol at the weekend and it was suggested that I use Local by Flywheel. Its had alot of good reviews, so maybe thats something to note as well. Even though its different to the one used in the tutorial.
