I am doing the quiz but I don't think we covered paragraphs yet and I don't remember anything being turned to black so I am a bit stuck? Sometimes I check the code along side the quiz and I don't see anything there with P tags?

remember you have a selector, before the curly braces. Since the selector is a p tag, you don't need a period or a hashtag/octothorpe. Finally, the way to target the color attribute is to use, "color"
Hexadecimal follows a hastag, so after the colon you need # and then 3 or 6 alphanumerics.
p { color: #000; }
or
p { color: #000000; }
