Selling WordPress design

Hey,

Some of my (or those that might-be-my) clients are using services like SquareSpace or Weebly. How do you sell your (much more expensive) tailored WordPress design service? What are the arguments that you use to win the clients trust that WordPress is much better solution that these DIY builders?

You dont want clients who choose wix or weebly or DIY builders, cos they dont want to spend money either cos they're stingy or just dont have the money cos their business isnt too big yet.

My argument is usually "Sure definitely go for WIX, but later when you want to change something that requires coding you'll have to get someone to do it"

The good thing about the Wix, Weebly, SquareSpace etcs… is that they cater for that particular lower-end of the market. Which is good, as they're not your / our clients—they want cheap, do-it-yourself solutions when they're probably time-rich-money-poor level in their business.

When they've outgrown the limits of the aforementioned, that's when you step-in and offer a solution to their online marketing problem.

You have to sell the BENEFITS of YOUR skills and expertise. What's the benefit to them? A dedicated, experienced professional who can maintain their online presence more efficiently than they can. Someone who knows the latest trends and technology to help better serve their customers.

Wordpress is a hugely popular (read, internationally trusted) platform that is extremely flexible, secure (enough) and reliable.

If they still don't whip out their cheque book, they're not your client.
