I am unable to get past this challenge despite the fact that it appears that I have the same correct syntax....
What could be wrong?
Thanks.
SELECT CONCAT(SUBSTRING(first_name,1,1),”.”,” “,UPPER(last_name)) AS name FROM users;

10,976 PointsHi Juliette,
To me it looks as though you have some strange quotation marks after your first substring function, i.e. the quotation marks that insert the period and space into the concatenation. Try retyping the quotation marks and resubmitting the code:
sql SELECT CONCAT(SUBSTRING(first_name,1,1),"."," ",UPPER(last_name)) AS name FROM users;
Alternatively, I often use 'single' quotes to wrap around strings (which also works in MS SQL). Like so,
sql SELECT CONCAT(SUBSTRING(first_name,1,1),'.',' ',UPPER(last_name)) AS name FROM users;
Hope this was helpful and good luck!
