Recreating website for practice. Thoughts?

http://torgian.github.io/kick-recreate/

My friend sent me an image the kickstarter page and told me to recreate it using HTML/CSS. It wasn't until later that I looked up for the actual page, which helped me find the images i needed and stuff.

Getting better one page at a time.

Anyone have any thoughts? I'm not quite done yet, but tomorrow I'll be fine tuning the margins and placements, as well as placing icons and such.

No Javascript yet, as I haven't learned that just yet.

As for recreating websites in general, what kind of sites do you normally attempt to recreate for practice? Do you change things around for your entertainment, or to try to make it look better?

This is great for practice, absolutely. Obviously you would never want to take credit for work that wasn't yours, but it is definitely a great way to learn! I often will find an image of a site or cool UI element and try to recreate it myself, it is a really great way to learn new things. You should definitely keep it up, there is no better way to learn than practicing.
