RaceCar Task #2, Creating run_lap method

Please help. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong?

racecar.py
class RaceCar():
    laps = 0

    def __init__(self, color, fuel_remaining, laps, **kwargs):
        self.color = color
        self.fuel_remaining = fuel_remaining

        for key, value in kwargs.items():
            setattr(self, key, value)

        def run_lap(self, length):
            self.fuel_remaining = self.fuel_remaining - (self.length * 0.125)
            self.laps++

The "laps" should not be an argument. It's not used, and having it there prevents the validator from being able to create an instance.
