Is anything missing in my code? I'm still not clear about how to use the % placeholders in my code.
var utilities = require("./utilities");
var mailValues = {};
mailValues.first_name = "Janet";
var emailTemplate = "Hi %first_name%! Thanks for completing this code challenge :)";
var mergedContent = utilities.merge(emailTemplate, mailValues);
//mergedContent === "Hi Janet! Thanks for completing this code challenge :)";
function merge(content, values) {
for(var key in values){
content.replace(key,values[key])
};
return content;
}
module.exports.merge = merge;

231,269 PointsYou're pretty close. But remember that you don't just want to replace the key, but the key and the percent signs surrounding it.
Also, the "replace" method doesn't change the string you apply it to, it returns a new string with the changes. So you'll want to save that somewhere.

18,975 PointsI think I've fixed it. function merge(content, values) { for(var key in values){ var newContent= content.replace("%" + key + "%",values[key]) }; return newContent; } module.exports.merge = merge;

231,269 PointsApparently the challenge only tests using an object with a single property, and this does pass.
But to be able to handle objects with more properties, you'd probably want to re-use the "content" variable instead of creating a new one.
