I was shown a css validator that tells you when your code is correct or incorrect. Does this also debug your code?

Treehouse Moderator 91,253 PointsIt's a completely valid and I would say recommended method of debugging your markup and CSS. It may help you spot issues you might have missed.
I prefer to use the online forms from W3C but there are also npm packages you can use as well just as you can use task runners to minimise css and JS code.
