20,893 PointsPronouncing "gif" vs "jif"
I know it is a weird question but isn't gif suppose to be pronounces "jif" according to Steve Wilhite the inventor of the .gif format.
I am a "gif" guy and have always pronounced it with a 'g' instead of the 'j', but for our students and teachers I would assume we should teach them the proper way to say it.
Read about it here and saw a few posts on Reddit and other sites earlier this week.

28,149 PointsI still say "Gif", and I don't care. I think the internet has turned this into the ultimate troll word though, and that alone is quite funny really. I can't help but wonder if the creator of the GIF, said it should be pronounced "Jif" to further confuse everyone, thus creating a nicely done troll.

Courses Plus Student 9,149 PointsOn the theory of the spelling being, "Gif" then I suppose it should have the, "g" sound. So, in my perspective it will still remain, "Gif" to me. Hope this helps you.
