2,239 PointsProblem with the EXTRA CREDIT problem
I Tried doing the first question with an ARRAY and i get no errors but the problem is it doesn't censor anything , the program allows all words in my Array
here is my code: import java.io.Console;
public class TreeStory {
public static void main(String[] args) {
Console console = System.console();
/* Some terms:
noun - Person, place or thing
verb - An action
adjective - A description used to modify or describe a noun
Enter your amazing code here!
*/
// __Name__ is a __adjective__ they are always __adverbs__ __verb__.
String ageAsString = console.readLine("How old are you? ");
int age = Integer.parseInt(ageAsString);
if( age < 13 ){
console.printf("sorry your too young to use this program.\n");
System.exit(0);
}
String name = console.readLine("Enter a name: ");
String adjective = console.readLine("Enter an adjective: ");
String noun;
String[] words= {"Fuck", "jerk"};
boolean isInvalidWord;
do{
noun = console.readLine("Enter a noun: ");
isInvalidWord = (noun.contains(words.toString()) ||
noun.contains(words.toString()));
if(isInvalidWord) {
console.printf("That language is not allowed. Try Again. \n\n");
}
}while(isInvalidWord);
String adverb = console.readLine("Enter an adverb: ");
String verb = console.readLine("Enter a verb ending with -ing: ");
console.printf("Your tree story: \n ----------------- \n");
console.printf("%s is a %s %s. ", name, adjective, noun);
console.printf("They are always %s %s. \n", adverb,verb);
}
}

12,092 PointsHere is how I would do it:
import java.io.Console;
import java.util.Arrays; //Import array methods
isInvalidWord = (Arrays.asList(words).contains(noun)); //This line checks the validity of a word
This uses the Arrays method .asList() to split the array and see if it contains the noun.
