3,131 PointsPreview console is printing my error message, I'm using iae's getMessage method, but I'm still getting a Bummer!
Everything appears to be working as expected, but I'm still wrong somehow. Anyone have any solutions?
class Example {
public static void main(String[] args) {
GoKart kart = new GoKart("purple");
if (kart.isBatteryEmpty()) {
System.out.println("The battery is empty");
}
try {
kart.drive(42);
} catch (IllegalArgumentException iae) {
System.out.println("Hold up.");
System.out.printf("Error: %s",
iae.getMessage());
}
}
}
class GoKart {
public static final int MAX_BARS = 8;
private int barCount;
private String color;
private int lapsDriven;
public GoKart(String color) {
this.color = color;
}
public String getColor() {
return color;
}
public void charge() {
barCount = MAX_BARS;
}
public boolean isBatteryEmpty() {
return barCount == 0;
}
public boolean isFullyCharged() {
return MAX_BARS == barCount;
}
public void drive() {
drive(1);
}
public void drive(int laps) {
if (laps > barCount) {
throw new IllegalArgumentException("You have driven too many laps.");
}
lapsDriven += laps;
barCount -= laps;
}
}

Treehouse Moderator 37,862 PointsI noticed that the your drive
method throws a different error then the default method when the challenge starts.
You are throwing this error:
IllegalArgumentException("You have driven too many laps.");
You should be throwing this error:
IllegalArgumentException("Not enough battery remains");
The text makes a difference.

31,206 PointsHi Jordan, your following code has the correct logic. Did you per chance change the exception's string message
You have driven too many laps.
? It remembers it from the previous exercise and if you change that your answer may fail. In any case, you can hit the "Restart" button on the code challenge, that way you can check inside the GoKart.java file, but you shouldn't need to change its contents for this challenge.
