Possible to get Photoshop & Illustrator for free? Do you HAVE TO pay?

Hi everyone,

I'm really excited to learn PS and Illustrator but you need to pay for it on the official adobe site. Is it possible to get both for free? Or a super cheap deal? Adobe offered older CS2 versions of PS and illustrator but I find it old and ineffective compared to latest versions.

To be frank, I don't think I can afford their monthly subscription based payments. Is there any way to get a 1-time payment? Free? I appreciate any kind of advice or help. Thanks.

Hey,

No I doubt that you will be able to get them for free or for a discount... these programs are very expensive indeed and yes, it sucks for us who ant to do the courses with them but can't afford it... that's life. If you would take an online guitar lesson, you'd need to buy a guitar... :/

ON THE POSITIVE SIDE OF LIFE : You can get Sketch, which is apple's equivalent to illustrator, and in my humble opinion, it's just as good. you have a course on it here at TH, and you get a special TH price (70$ instead of 100$)

For photoshop, you can use pixelmator. it costs 20$, and it's really a great program for designers that have a lower budget. Another amazing alternative on the app store to make your life easier. :)

Good luck !

I like Raphael's answer best but just to add a bit more info.

It may be possible to get Adobe products cheaper through an educational affiliation. Keep in mind that this is extremely rare but I know someone who gets access to the entire Creative Cloud Suite for $10 a year. Yes, $10 a year. gasp

Needless to say, I think $10 a year is like winning the lottery and you are more likely to find the Adobe products costing much, much more.

Did I mention I like Raphael's answer? ;)

The old version of photoshop cs2 is fine. But illustrator no. Probably cs6 or cs5.

I can rock photoshop with adobe photoshop 7. that was back in early 2000s. LOLs.

You can download a free trial of both. That is the only option I know of. At least you can have them to follow along with the course. Here is the link to the site. http://www.adobe.com/downloads.html
