points for each course are for what, and how they are calculated?

i am new to treehouse , and cant understand what are points for or how they are calculated?

Hi Rania,

Points are just a measure of your progress and can be a motivator to learn more.

If you go to your profile here https://teamtreehouse.com/raniazawawi

at the bottom of the points section you should see the following text:

Points are earned whenever you take an important action on Treehouse. Learn more about when and how points are earned.

If you click the "Learn more" link you'll get a popup showing all the different ways points are earned.
