Hi All!
After all the encouragement from Craig Dennis in the Java track tutorials, I am finally taking that initiative and posting to the community after being so quiet! Yay!
So, I have been working in the IT field for over 8 years and throughout that time I have worked in Help Desk all the way to System Administration. During that time, I have always been fascinated by programmers and the development process. I have long admired those teams from afar who collaborate and work together to build these web applications and solutions that I am now risking it all to pursue a chance to become a part of those teams.
These past 4 months or so, I have been watching tutorials, reading books and following along to learn Java and C# programming to hopefully build the skills needed to be effective on one of these teams.
So the question is: When do you know when you are ready to work professionally as a developer? Do you ever know? Is there anyone that can shed some insight who was essentially self-taught through online programs like Treehouse, that had a moment where they felt confident they could contribute in a professional setting?
Let's start this discussion, I'd love to hear where everyone stands on this topic!
Looking forward to hearing from you!
