Design Illustrator Foundations Creating an Icon Using Pathfinder with Objects

Outline pathfinder seems to only leave vertical outlines, not horizontal outlines.

When I used the outline pathfinder, I could only see the vertical lines. I actually figured this out as I was typing, but I'll post in case anyone else has the same problem.

Stroke was set to 0. When I increased stroke width I was able to see the complete outlines.
