I'm trying to make a TestCase here, but it states that step 1 is no longer passing.

That error message is very misleading and really has nothing to do with the previous task. That message always means that you have introduced a Syntax Error in the current task you are working on.
Here, you are using the wrong symbol to compare the assert to the value. Remember, a single equal sign (=) is an assignment operator and assigns values. But here you want to check for equality, so you need to be using the double equal sign (==).
Just fix that up and everything else is good!
