okay i see what they want am i supposed to use the if or else statement or something(:

You have to be careful with the arguments that you are receiving, the code challenge is telling you that the function has to receive two arguments and you have to return the multiplication of them, no need to use the if statement. You can do it like this:

def product(arg1, arg2):
    return arg1 * arg2
